The Forgetful Muse

Return, forgetful Muse, and straight redeem In gentle numbers, time so idly spent; Sing to the ear that doth thy lays esteem And gives thy pen both skill and argument.

Well Hello Again!

Finally, I've decided to get serious on my blogging. :] My mother writes so many amazing posts and I read them every day and I have developed some jealousy of her writing. So I'm planning to improve it!

For the past eight months, I have been finishing one play and starting another! As many of you probably read in my mom's blog, I auditioned for the play Cinderella and was called back for the main role! I didn't get it, but I had the privilege of being one of the three girls asked to stay later than any of the others to sing with the Princes. Even though I didn't get my dream role, I'm still proud to say that I did my best...and if I didn't get the part, it's because God didn't want me to!

I am now playing the role of a Your Majesty Dancer and a Ballroom Dancer. A Your Majesty Dancer is a jazz/tap/ballet dancer who come on with the Head Chefs, carrying a platter or tray of some sort and does a little dance. A Ballroom Dancer is...well...a dancer at the ball! We haven't learned the dance yet but we will after Christmas break!

During Christmas break, I'm hoping to start getting into a rhythm of writing daily posts. Hopefully, I won't be too busy with all the Christmas preparations!

Meet The Amusing Family

The Dad.
My dad is the dad. My siblings and I all think so. We all think he's cool. End of story.

The Mom.
She is the mom also. She juggles 6 kids! I think that's pretty amazing. Her blog.

BigBro15.
I don't see him much on account of him being the only public schooled child in our family. But what I do see of him, is pretty interesting. He's into the World War I and II wars along with Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings etc. His blog.

HottBro11.
Yes, hott as in girls are already panting all over him. Poor kid. He's a little spoiled when it comes to the opposite gender. Don't tell him I said that. :]

GoofyBro7.
The goofiest, randomest, strangest, little boy you will ever meet! One thing you can always remember him as is the boy with the bed hair. Yes, it's always messy. Oh, how we love him so. His blog.

Sista4!
I waited ten years for that little bundle of pink blankets! I'm not a fortune teller but I am going to tell you, she is going to be a model when she grows up! Pictures soon to come. :]

BabyBro2.
The baby of the family! The cutest one of them all. Also known as The Chair Man of the Chub Club. :] He is full of baby chub. Sometimes I refer to him as my best friend because he listens and understands everything I tell him...most of the time. :]

The Forgetful Muse

I am The Forgetful Muse.

I am 13 years old and I love writing, acting, singing and dancing. I am currently in a theater group that is performing the musical Tom Sawyer! I'm a Bat Dancer...I know, sounds weird. But not that many people get to grow up and say that they were once a BAT in a play. We just had our first rehearsal working on our bat dance and it is more fun than I thought it would be because the music is really creepy and we kind of flow everywhere.

Anyway, I will mainly be writing about my theater group, the books I'm reading, and just anything that may pop up during the day! I will warn you, I tend to start rambling or talking in gibberish. But part of having a blog is to be able to write whatever you're feeling or thinking about at the moment, right? Right. But half of the time, I know exactly what I'm talking about, when nobody else does.

A muse is a mythological goddess who inspired poets, artists, dancers and actors. I chose 'The Forgetful Muse' for my blog because I was studying Shakespeare in an acting class and we were learning the prologue to Henry IV:

O, for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention!

I liked the sound of that. So I did a Google search on "Shakespeare" and "muse" and found this
sonnet:

Where art thou Muse that thou forget'st so long,
To speak of that which gives thee all thy might?
Spend'st thou thy fury on some worthless song,
Darkening thy power to lend base subjects light?
Return forgetful Muse, and straight redeem,
In gentle numbers time so idly spent;
Sing to the ear that doth thy lays esteem
And gives thy pen both skill and argument.
Rise, resty Muse, my love's sweet face survey,
If Time have any wrinkle graven there;
It any, be a satire to decay,
And make time's spoils despised everywhere.
Give my love fame faster than Time wastes life,
So thou prevent'st his scythe and crooked knife.

So I was looking at both of the Muses in this stanza and was trying to pick which one I liked best out of Resty Muse and Forgetful Muse. I'm sure you can guess why I chose The Forgetful Muse. I am pretty forgetful. And it doesn't have much to do with my posts but it does make sense that I would start writing a post and forget entirely what I'm talking about. I do that when I'm talking too! Also, I liked how Shakespeare invoked the forgetful muse as the one who "gives thy pen both skill and argument." It seemed appropriate to make the connection between the forgetful muse and writing, since that's what I'll be doing here. Besides, it sounds fun to think of myself as The Forgetful Muse.
